Mansabdari System

  • 'Manasab' is an Arabic word which used to mean Post (pad). During Akbar's rule, those who were present in the imperial army were conferred with 'posts' from the emperor. He was called 'Mansabdar'.
  • It was based on the decimal system of the Mongols.
  • Changiz Khan started the Mansabdari System.
  • Mansabdar used to be under Mir Bakshi. He was also introduced to the emperor through Mir Bakshi. The smallest Mansab was 10 and the largest Mansab was 10,000. Akbar gave the mansab of 2,000 to Jehangir.
